Speaker Dan Johnson

Dan was "fetched up" in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and has earned two degrees in engineering at the U. of M. While at the University, Dr. James J. Rayn (inventor of seat belts) sparked Dan's interest in patents. He then earned a Juris Doctorate of Law from William Mitchel. In 1973, Dan founded Recognition Specialties which produces Patent Awards and incentives throughout the United States.

Dan will be the first to tell you that his "real and meaningful life" began in 1975 in the midst of a crisis. As he describes it, a sour note became the first note of a beautiful symphony. Dan is blessed with his wife, Pamela, four children, and seven grandchildren. He enjoys all sports, but he is especially grateful that he can regularly compete in handball at the age of 70.
